Biography
Pet Shop Boys arrived fully formed with 'West End Girls' in 1985, instantly becoming Britain's most literate synth-pop duo. Their partnership of Neil Tennant's wry vocals and Chris Lowe's elegant electronic arrangements produced one hit after another.
The duo met in a London electronics shop in 1981 and worked on songs for years before signing to Parlophone in 1985.
Please (1986), Actually (1987) and Introspective (1988) made them one of the decade's most consistent hit-makers. 'It's a Sin', 'What Have I Done to Deserve This?' and 'Always on My Mind' were all UK number ones.
Pet Shop Boys remain active and continue to influence virtually every electronic pop act, from Saint Etienne to The Killers.
